Arguably the first things I began making were the titlescreen and an additional block. Creating the titlescreen was fun because I've always been into User Experience, and adding a block was a challenge, because while it may seem trivial it actually forced me to engage more deeply with the engine. I may even have found a bug with MeshLibrary but I think it was already listed as an issue. Feel free to correct me on this.
Another thing that I've done is change is the camera position, from close to the ground to natural view. The ground position is for another game. And yeah... Be careful about pressing the ESC key, because you may find the pause screen... It's not done yet so it softlocks the game :D
I've looked into optimization and found that recompiling Godot from source seems a bit overkill right now so I've done the next best thing and compressed the game files for distribution. You'll have to decompress them on your machine after download but I've made it so they're as small and as compatible as my current knowledge allows ;) Also I've updated the build filenames to include the target platform and version. I've found many games lack these and they've been useful to me in the past, so I'm adding them.
This update has been 'almost ready' for a few days (weeks) now but things I have to do just kept getting in the way. Yesterday was almost the day but I went out all day so yeah, it didn't happen. That is to say I'm uploading the new Windows build as I write this because I didn't include the version number in the name. Whoopsie.
I want these devlogs to be well written but frankly I want this to be out so I can focus on further development. This is how this one turned out so I guess it's good. I've just realized this may be my first actual 3D game. Pretty cool.
Hope you have a good one. Cheers!
